NOTES FROM COUSIN JOHN ALEXANDER IN AUSTRALIA
Monday, February 12th, 2007My nose is in the book every chance I get, during the night when I can’t sleep, and I keep reading something not noticed before! Now, that is a good book! There is so much material in there!
I’ve got an Alexander highwayman, Red Coats couldn’t catch him! Like Dick Turpin in England, he knew the back roads and fields in the dark of night, plus, he had a fast mare! Red Coats knew who he was, but couldn’t prove it. He was to be hanged at Lifford Jail when caught, soooo as you Americans say, he got outa’ Dodge City fast — posse was closing in! He wrote to Domore a beautifully penned letter from America saying how wonderful it was, and for the other Alexanders to follow, he died suddenly after. I read his letter about 20 years ago.
Back to your book, how on earth did you get all that information? It must be a labour of love. We had a professor here for tea a week ago, and she said the same thing. As you said at the begining of the book, it’s for Alexanders who are still scratching their heads and wondering, “Where do we originate from?” Hit the keyboard, and hey presto, book and all!
I’d like to know who John of Eredy’s wife was. I see a strange name mentioned in some email.
We’re off and running, bye for now, Cousin John
